I came across this adorable zipper pouch critter for my kids to keep their coins in for school, and ever since I have been slightly obsessed with incorporating zippers in some artworks somehow, and in the process I found some really great imaginative zipper creations across the web. Sharing imaginative zipper art in this weeks top five, enjoy!

Now on to this weeks features. Here we have a zipper dress created by Chilean born Designer Sebastian Errazuriz, his idea was to create a dress that could be worn with hundreds of variations. Made with 120 custom zippers, each could be separated from the dress or left partially zipped to expose the skin. This is a one of a kind piece, that has not yet been mass produced. Very innovative design concept.

Not sure if you have seen all the great zipper jewelry designs out there, but when it comes to zipper jewelry…. The designs by Kate Cusack have got to be my favorite! She is a sculptural designer with background in costume design, window display and wearable sculptures, from wigs, hats and dresses to her more well known zipper art jewelry line of necklaces and bracelets. She views the body as her canvas, and is fascinated by adornment and excess. And she will be exhibited at our local Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, February 26 – March 2nd. now that’s a showing I will have to check out!

Elizabeth Morisette’s work focuses on everyday objects. Utilizing items gathered throughout lifetimes, her pieces are whimsical in nature including objects such as jar lids, curlers, and combs.   This work is highly tactile and has many layers of stories and meaning. Here are three wonderful examples of her work from her Vessel series, done in zippers. She has a wonderful photo stream on Flicker where you can see broad examples of her works including zipper art.
