June Fab Furniture Flipping Contest – “Coastal Inspirations”

I am super excited that Saltwash is the sponsor for this month’s Fab Furniture Flipping Contest™ I’ve been eyeballing the product for a few months now with its super cool finishing effect, and ya’ll know how much I go for coastal decor. Now I have the perfect chance to try out for myself this texturing technique, and share my first Coastal Inspirations project using Saltwash™!

*This is a sponsored post, I have received products used to complete this project.  All product opinions are entirely my own, regardless of sponsorship. Please review my Disclosure Page for more details on the disclosure policy. I do not receive affiliate sales commissions from this post.

Saltwash Buffet Before

The Before

Pretty plain old buffet made by Haggerty, I loved the carved detail on this one it reminds me of the pieces you find in the Caribbean Islands brought over by the English.

This is the before shot of what I started this project with.

The First Coastal Layer

All I did for prep was to give this piece a good cleaning with TSP. Then I mixed up the first layer with Chalk Paint from CeCe Caldwell that I had left over from a previous project, the Saltwash creates a real thick frosting consistency, I just kinda globbed it on here and there.

The Second Coastal Layer

The second teal color was a custom mix of chalky style paints again leftover from previous projects. I alternated here and there with the green, to give it a ocean vibe.

Top Coastal Layer

The top layer, again was left over white chalk paint straight from the can thinned out with a touch of water.

Detailed Texture Shots

These shots are the finished sanded back texture, with a protective coat of clear wax which darkened up the underlying colors nicely. I did use dark wax on the carved leaf columns on the buffet,  and the painted frame trim to match the buffet.

The Finished Piece

I love this finished salt washed texture, and can’t wait to play with it some more with other color combos, and applications so plan on seeing some more of this stuff on the blog.
