Hello Art lovers! In Florida the best time of year to go camping is in the Fall / Winter months, my family is longing for a trip in the great outdoors and have camping on our brain’s so I decided to share some wonderful camping quilts with you this week on Tuesday’s Top Five Favorite Junk Finds round up. We normally go camping in our RV on a yearly basis to get a break from the exhausting city life and retreat into the scenic country side but the RV Battery isn’t working at the minute so we’re currently just going on holiday in our tent. It’s still great fun! If you are sleeping in a caravan or RV, make sure you check out One Sure Insurance for information on the benefits of ensuring a camper!

I love Katie Daisy’s artwork!
My family will be camping next week for Thanksgiving, and my son’s birthday is coming up so things are a bit crazy at my place this week. Our Family loves camping during Thanksgiving week, the kids are out of school, the weather is nice and nippy in the evenings…. perfect for campfires! And we get to enjoy some quality family time before all he Christmas hub-bub. I grew up camping with my folks and want to continue the tradition of my love for the outdoors with our kids.
For the past few weeks I have been scouring the net for camping recipes, camping art activities, vintage camping gear, searching for great Florida flea markets in the area where we are going, Oh and Have I been gushing over all the vintage glamping campers, I vow to have one of my own one day they are so scrumptiously divine! I’ll make it into my own little backyard getaway when not out camping in it! It would make an adorable guest cottage as well…. “sigh…one day…” anyway I am veering off subject here…I have been searching for some beautiful camp inspired artwork for inspiration to embellish some glamping gear of my own, and have some wonderful finds for you this week!
*All photos and artworks featured in this round up are to be credited to the featured artists with their web links respectfully posted and may be subject to copyright.
The first featured camping quilt this week is this wonderful Applique Fabric picture by Lucy Levenson, This accomplished artist hails from England, and has a plethora of gorgeous works available on her site, she is also on Facebook. I love her style and detail in her works! The whimsical shapes and bold choice of patterned fabrics really sets off her work for me.
Next feature I have for you is this adorable camping quilt by Kristen Rauch over at Woolly Petals, I love the pattern, and color choices on this one! The fab retro feel of the back piece fabric is a perfect combination. What a wonderful rendition! She also has a shop over on Etsy with some adorable owl themed creations.
For the third feature we have this wonderful one of a kind batik landscape art camping quilt by Carol McDowell from Vermont, she’s got a shop over on Etsy. I love the overall design of the landscape on this piece, the movement of the air created with stitching, the batik s lending of visual texture, and the added air-stream camper, with the vintage car just sets it off for me!
for the following feature we have this awesome campfire quilt by artist Pat Ferguson which was shared over at the quiet corner art quilt group, created for their Fire and/or Ice topic. Pat chose to include both on this piece. the logs are made from leather, the flames of silk, the embers were created from tiny pieces of sequined fabric. The ice comes into play with the blue cubes. I love how fabric artists create movement with stitching, you can feel the heat and steam rise off the fire. Marvelous! She has some fabulous creations on her site!
This featured camping quilt is truly magnificent with detail! Titled Fire and Ice by Claudia Pfeil from Krefeld Germany. This huge piece was featured on the cover of Quilters newsletter in Jan of 2011, and for good reason just gander at the detail in the close ups,…. my goodness what a piece of work! “Fire and Ice” won 1st place and Viewer’s Choice at the Quilt Odyssey in Hershey, PA. The quilt is all machine sewn and includes over 55,000 Swarovski crystals.
And the top feature, the Bonus pick in the round up, my most favorite camping quilt this week goes to Terry Grant from Oregon. For her stunning campfire quilt, do you feel the the crackle of the fire sparks in the detailed stitching? The ombre fading in the background, I adore the whole design of this piece so much! This accomplished artist has various stunning fine fabric art creations on her blog, check them out!
